Anyone have suggestions? My team is burning out on data entry. Two brokers gave notice this morning. I can hire temps but they take like 3 months to onboard.

So… word on the street is you're entitled to an IEEPA refund.

Coffee brewing, excel sheets open, yup it's going to be a long night.
But not for everybody…

Some importers are resting easy dreaming about the refund check headed their way.

Frequently Asked Questions About IEEPA Tariff Refunds

How does CustomsGenius handle high-volume CAPE filings?

CBP's CAPE system limits each Declaration CSV to 9,999 entry lines. CustomsGenius automatically batch-processes filings across multiple declarations when your portfolio exceeds this limit. The platform ingests ES-003 Entry Summary Line Tariff Details reports directly from ACE, identifies all IEEPA Chapter 99 entries, and prepares compliant CAPE Declaration files ready for upload — regardless of volume.

Does CustomsGenius calculate statutory interest on IEEPA refunds?

Yes. CustomsGenius computes statutory interest on a per-entry basis under 19 U.S.C. Section 1505(c), using each entry's liquidation date, duty amount, and the applicable interest rate. This gives brokers an accurate total recovery figure — principal plus interest — before filing any CAPE Declaration.

How does CustomsGenius validate entries before CAPE submission?

CustomsGenius cross-validates ES-001 Entry Summary data against ES-003 Entry Summary Line Tariff Details to catch discrepancies at the entry level before filing. The platform also pre-screens every entry against the full CAPE error code table, flagging issues that would cause CBP to reject the declaration. This prevents rejection cascades that force brokers to re-file entire batches.

Does CustomsGenius use AI to classify entries or generate HTS codes?

No. All processing in CustomsGenius is deterministic and rule-based. The platform does not use probabilistic AI, large language models, or machine learning to classify entries, generate HTS codes, or determine refund eligibility. This design choice directly supports Reasonable Care compliance under 19 U.S.C. Section 1484, which requires importers and brokers to exercise informed judgment — not delegate classification decisions to opaque models.

Can I try CustomsGenius without scheduling a demo?

Yes. Sign up at app.customsgenius.com and begin analyzing entries immediately. No demo, no sales call, no waitlist. Trade Professionals get their first 100 entry lines free.

What data does CustomsGenius need to get started?

Most of the data CustomsGenius needs comes directly from ACE Portal reports: ES-003 (Entry Summary Line Tariff Details) and ES-001 (Entry Summary). You don't need to upload stacks of documents to begin. Supporting documents like commercial invoices, bills of lading, and CBP Form 7501s are only needed to substantiate specific claims during the filing process.

What is the IEEPA tariff and who does it affect?

The International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) was used to impose additional tariffs on U.S. imports beginning April 2025. The Supreme Court ruled in Learning Resources Inc. v. Trump that IEEPA does not authorize unilateral import tariffs, making these duties unlawful. More than 300,000 importers of record who paid IEEPA duties are legally entitled to full refunds.

How much money is involved in IEEPA tariff refunds?

The U.S. government collected an estimated $170 to $175 billion in IEEPA tariff duties by February 2026, affecting more than 300,000 importers. Delayed refunds accrue interest at approximately $700 million per month. The Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has rejected the government's attempts to pause refund payments.
